ABOUT

Meet Lynn Martin

Certified Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapist

MY STORY

I use cognitive-behavioral and other evidence-based therapies to help clients because these approaches are supported by science, and because they offer practical tools to help clients reduce suffering and live life more fully.

In my work at Yale, Columbia, Cornell, UCSF and SFVA Medical Centers, I’ve been fortunate to have worked and trained with world-renowned experts in cognitive behavioral and other evidence-based psychotherapies, pharmacotherapies, and research on anxiety, mood and dementia-related disorders. I am grateful to have this training and knowledge to offer to my clients.

My work is anchored in two areas I care deeply about:

  • Helping people manage stress, anxiety and mood disorders that may interfere with living life to the fullest

  • Helping those who provide care for others (such as healthcare workers navigating burnout or moral injury, or loved-ones caring for someone with cognitive decline or age-related loss of independence)

It takes courage and perseverance to engage in therapy. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with such courageous individuals.

I hold national certification from the Academy of Cognitive Therapy as a Certified Psychotherapist, Trainer, and Consultant — a distinction held by a small number of practitioners worldwide. I am licensed to provide psychotherapy to adults and older teens in California, New York, Connecticut, and Florida.

COLLABORATING PSYCHIATRIST

I am very grateful and extremely fortunate to have Dr. Jennifer Liu as the collaborating psychiatrist for my practice.

Dr. Liu brings 24-years of distinguished service as an Attending Psychiatrist at the San Francisco VA Medical Center and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at UCSF School of Medicine. She is renowned for her clinical excellence, her compassionate approach to care, and her dedication to mentorship and teaching. Dr. Liu completed her medical training at MCP Hahnemann College of Medicine (now Drexel University School of Medicine), her Psychiatry Internship and the University of Pennsylvania, her Psychiatry Residency at UCSF Langley Porter Hospital, and her Psycho-Oncology Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering. She recently retired from hospital practice and now consults.

Dr Jennifer Liu is an invaluable resource to my clients and me. Although I am an independent practitioner, Dr. Liu is available for expert clinical consultation when I have questions and provides the quality assurance oversight required of Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Specialists in private practice in the State of California.
